Compared to other systems, IBS presents the following major features:

Irrespective of some similarities between IBS and certain pre-fab systems, the essence is quite different. While all elements for the entire frame structure are shop manufactured, IBS is far more superior to all known pre-fab systems both in structural quality and in design.

Parties interested in producing IBS should note that IBS elements can be manufactured either on a "shoestring" or - if capacity reaches a certain level -  on a highly automated basis.  Subject to the soil conditions of the construction site, only certain parts of the foundations may have to be poured at the site. Site work is reduced to preparing the foundation and to placing and bolting the frame structure of the building, which allows for a short erection time, in particular since installations for utilities can partly be integrated in the shop manufactured slabs and columns. Since the heavy frame structure does not require any bearing walls, various types of wall materials or prefabricated walls can be used as partition walls of outer walls. The same flexibility is given as to the application of various types of roofs. The particular type of bolted joints between the slabs and columns renders the frame structure of the buildings resistant against earthquakes and heavy storms.
