Key Components

The Colver Plant produces approximately 130 Megawatt of electricity, 27 of which is either used by the plant and its peripheral facilities, or is lost during transmission to the main sub station (line losses). The actual amount supplied to the power grid (103MW) is roughly the equivalent of what 100,000 typical US households consume. As a base load facility, all the power produced is being sold to the Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec) under a long term agreement.

BOILER: One Pyropower / Foster Wheeler circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler generating 785,000 lb./hr at 2,525 psig and 540 C° reheat.

pont002.gif (1145 bytes)            TURBINE GENERATOR: One Mitsubishi / Westinghouse Steam turbine/generator with a nameplate capacity of capacity of 140 Megawatt.

pont002.gif (1145 bytes)            EMISSION CONTROLS: Limestone injection, staged combustion with thermal DeNOx and a 16-compartment fabric filter bathhouse.  The Anhydrous Ammonia Injection System (SCNR) achieves a 45% reduction. The baghouse reaches a 99.96% reduction and the limestone injection system captures 92% of the SO2 emissions.
